Drawing Now / Le Salon du dessin contemporain
March 26-30, 2014

Hervé Bize who will celebrate soon the 25 years anniversary of his activities is delighted to announce the 5th participation of the gallery to Drawing Now, after two years absence.
The gallery will present an outstanding group of works by the American artist Jack Youngerman (born in 1926).

Youngerman is considered as one of the most influential artists about geometric abstraction as well as figures like Ellsworth Kelly and François Morellet.
Working on paper has been central to Youngerman’s practice and the selection for the fair will include pieces from the 1950’s to the present, early collages, colorful gouaches or inks, all notable for their rigor, freshness and graphic impact.

Due to the influence of Paris during his formative years, Youngerman lived in Paris from 1947 to 1956 (he married the actress Delphine Seyrig), this focus especially scheduled for Drawing Now makes great sense.
Jack Youngerman lives in the Hamptons (NY) since the end of the 60’s. He has been the subject of a retrospective at the Guggenheim Museum in 1986. His work is represented in many public collections, among them the MoMA and the Whitney Museum.
Since a few years the gallery is expanding its activities overseas, mostly in New York. We will organize in partnership with Josee Bienvenu Gallery the first François Morellet solo show in New York City since 1997 (April 17th – May 31st).
At the occasion of Drawing Now the gallery will also display works by Daniel Dezeuze, Marco Godinho and naturally François Morellet.
